Mother/Child Residential

For more than 30 years, Via Avanta — “the way forward” in Spanish — has been a haven for women struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, domestic violence, and poverty. They heal in an environment of safety, respect, and dignity.

Via Avanta was among the nation’s first programs to recognize the importance of keeping young children and mothers together during treatment. Call (818) 897-2609 for more information.

  • Designed for women:  Strengths-based 
approach to overcome trauma
  • Relapse prevention:  Sober living; 12-step programs; addiction counseling; support groups
  • Sound mind and spirit:  Therapy and 
specialized psychiatric care for adults and children; emotional/behavioral/developmental screenings; meditation area; exercise room; yoga
  • Physical health:  Partnerships with primary care; HIV testing; prenatal education
  • Family bonding:  Mommy and Me activities; parenting classes; family therapy to strengthen attachments; playground
  • Advocacy:  Assistance with court/parole/probation/custody obligations; support for reunification
  • Independent living:  Training; employment assistance; housing placement; alumnae groups

Our new program, Project 60 Women & Children, is designed specifically for women with chronic and persistent mental illness:

  • Fully integrated dual-diagnosis treatment
