Children and teens experiencing emotional and behavioral difficulties that create barriers to learning can receive help from Didi Hirsch’s School-Based Services. Our therapists work in over 90 schools spanning six school districts and numerous charter organizations in Los Angeles County. They provide support, crisis intervention and evidence-based mental health services, helping students to develop coping skills they can use to be more successful at school, at home and in the community. Mental health services are available in English and Spanish. Check with each of our sites for additional language capabilities including Korean, Armenian, Farsi, Amharic, French and Catalan.

Barriers to Learning

School-based therapists focus on helping students to identify and work through problems that may impact academics as well as their social and family relationships. Problems that may create barriers to learning include:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Difficulty paying attention
  • Hyperactivity / impulsiveness
  • Behavioral problems
  • Aggressive behaviors
  • Bullying
  • Trauma
  • Substance use
  • Significant family stress

If you are interested in school-based services for your child, you can talk to your school about possible services, or you can call the Didi Hirsch intake number at (888) 807-7250 to inquire about school-based services at your child’s school.
