On September 29, 2024, we welcomed nearly 1,000 participants to our annual 5K Walk/Run, Alive Together. This year we brought a record number of participants together to remember those lost to suicide, pay tribute to survivors, and raise funds to strengthen our suicide prevention services.
This year’s event was hosted at the beautiful UCLA campus, providing participants with a unique tour of the historic university.
After months of dedicated planning and agency-wide collaboration – and with over 100 staff and volunteers supporting on event day – Alive Together was a resounding success.
Together we surpassed our goal of $400,000 – ultimately raising over $450,000.
Vice President of Crisis Care, Shari Sinwelski, shared how inspiring it was to see the community come together to reduce stigma and spread awareness about suicide prevention:
“For me to see over 1,000 people come out on a Sunday morning and be here for suicide prevention – it’s just amazing to see that that many people care about this issue and are willing to talk about what’s going on. That’s 1,000 more people that know that Didi Hirsch is here, that 988 is a resource that people can reach out to. It builds community and they tell the people that they know in their lives about this wonderful event,” Sinwelski said.
