Born at Didi Hirsch, Now One of Our Therapists

Christina’s Story:

Thirty-four years ago, a young pregnant woman struggling to overcome a heroin addiction was set on a new path by Didi Hirsch Via Avanta—one of the nation’s first programs to keep mothers and their young children together during treatment. Marie Chacon was living at Via Avanta when she gave birth to her first child, Christina. Wanting to be the best mom she could be, Marie worked on her recovery until she and her daughter graduated from the program when Christina was 18 months old.

Thanks to donors like you who support Didi Hirsch, that toddler thrived and is now a therapist completing her post-doctorate at the Didi Hirsch Suicide Prevention Center in Century City. “It feels like a circle within a circle,” Christina Ortiz says. “I’m thrilled to work for the agency that helped my mom get clean and healthy. Didi Hirsch Via Avanta saved her life.”

Your generosity to Didi Hirsch makes a profound difference in the lives of people like Marie and Christina. Please make a tax-deductible year-end gift to Didi Hirsch NOW to support the mental health, substance use and suicide prevention services that help transform the lives of thousands of children and adults each year.

Gratefully,

Kita S. Curry, PhD President/CEO Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services
