Vice President of Development
Joel Wyatt has been Didi Hirsch’s Vice President of Development since April, 2016. He has more than 20 years of experience in fundraising—most recently as Director of Advancement at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture in Houston, Texas.
Although a native of Texas, Joel spent most of his career raising major gifts in Los Angeles, serving as the West Coast Director for the University of Pennsylvania, the Director of Development for Loyola Marymount University and an Assistant Director for Major Gifts on the west coast for Harvard University.
Joel became aware of Didi Hirsch’s reputation as a leading provider of mental health services while serving as the first Development Director for the Trevor Project, the nation’s first crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
With extensive experience in leading four successful capital campaigns, he joined Didi Hirsch to help launch its $20 million capital campaign for Hope & Light, which supports Didi Hirsch’s new standalone Suicide Prevention Center in Century City. Started in 1958, the center is the first and only one of its kind in the nation.
Joel heads a team that stewards an expanding base of donors and produces two major fundraising events each year—Erasing the Stigma Leadership Awards in April and Alive & Running 5K Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention in September.
