Vice President of Development
Debbi joined Didi Hirsch in 2020 as Vice President of Development. In this role, she is responsible for the organization’s fundraising and communications activities, including partnering with the CEO, the Executive Management Team and the Board of Directors.
With over 25 years of experience in senior-level planning and administration of human service agency operations, Debbi has worked with mid-size and large nonprofit organizations. She has comprehensive fundraising skills, including grant development and management, planning and executing campaigns and events, donor and funder relations, and working with boards of directors. Her background also includes expertise in strategic planning and developing and executing communications plans.
Prior to joining Didi Hirsch, Debbi served as the Chief Development Officer at the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, a non-profit which provides a continuum of services for children and adults with developmental, learning and emotional disabilities. She also held executive positions at 1736 Family Crisis Center, which serves battered women and homeless youth, and Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic, which provides mental health services to children and families in South Los Angeles.
Debbi earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She enjoys mentoring younger colleagues in the nonprofit sector – having served as a Fast Pitch Coach for Los Angeles Social Venture Partners and a guest lecturer for Antioch University’s Masters in Nonprofit Management program.
Debbi’s commitment to the field of mental health is informed by personal experiences, including her brother’s struggle for years to access substance abuse and mental health services.
