Andy Yu Riemer

Andy Yu Riemer (they/them) is a Partner at SidePorch, a consulting firm working with mission-aligned organizations across climate, health and mental health, and education. SidePorch partners with clients ranging from early-stage ventures and research universities to Fortune 50 companies, public-private partnerships, and nonprofits, helping them take on some of the most pressing challenges facing people and planet. Andy leads engagements across these sectors, with a through-line of supporting individuals and organizations to scale their impact through the principles of equity and inclusion.

Across their career as a consultant and operator, Andy has helped nonprofits, foundations, and corporations measure impact, develop purpose-driven strategy, translate research into applied practice, build communications strategy, and strengthen organizational inclusion. Earlier in their career, Andy worked at the intersection of education and equity with EdWeek and Classroom Champions, and as a Social Impact Executive at CAA, where they brokered partnerships between nationally recognized nonprofits and the entertainment industry. Andy also founded a mental health startup that was a finalist in the Harvard Business School New Venture Competition.

Andy’s perspective on mental health is shaped by lived experience with suicidality and as a former professional soccer player in the United States and Germany, where they came to understand firsthand how performance environments can both obscure and illuminate the need for mental health support. That experience continues to inform their work with athletes, young people, and the organizations that serve them. Andy has spoken at conferences and organizations on topics including defining and measuring impact, rethinking masculinity and gender equity, mental health, and corporate culture.

Andy holds a B.A. in Psychology from Georgetown University and an Ed.M in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. They serve as Vice Chair of the Board at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.
