Comedy and Music Raise Money and Awareness

Judd Apatow, the movie producer, director and screenwriter best known for “The Forty-Year-Old Virgin,” “Knocked Up” and “This is Forty,” and 17-year-old pop sensation Jacob Whitesides, are each hosting events this month to benefit Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

Helping homeless families heal

Gabriele Gonzalez was living a hard life last winter. She was homeless and addicted to methamphetamine, sleeping in parks and abandoned buildings, unsure where she’d find her next meal. Today, she's headed in a dramatically new direction.

Didi Hirsch, Metrolink and Metro Renew Campaign to Prevent Holiday Suicide

Fast trains, holiday depression and thoughts of suicide can be a deadly combination. But suicide by train has decreased significantly throughout the Metrolink system since  Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services and local commuter rail officials posted signs with the Crisis Line number (877-727-4747) and the message: "Reach out. There is help."

Record Year for Fundraising and Memories


Didi Hirsch’s 16th annual Alive & Running Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention had a record year—raising more than $274,000 and providing participants with poignant but life-affirming opportunities to remember and celebrate loved ones lost to suicide.

Didi Hirsch Leaders Serve as Expert Witnesses at Assembly Joint Hearing

Didi Hirsch's Medical Director Dr. Curley Bonds and Director of Bereavement Services Rick Mogil served as expert witnesses at a State Assembly Joint Hearing on Law Enforcement Interactions Involving People with Mental Illness on Tuesday, July 29th.

Didi Hirsch supports AB2198

Didi Hirsch supports AB2198, which requires suicide prevention training for mental health professionals.

AB2198 requires:

  • 15 hours of suicide prevention training for those studying to become psychologists, social workers or marriage and family therapists;
  • a one-time 6-hour course for those who are already licensed.


Innovative Interventions

Our medical director, Dr. Curley Bonds, recently hosted a talk entitled "Innovative Interventions: Psychiatry in the 21st Century"

Highlights included new technology and new practices being used in the field of mental health.
